At the moment, the evidence on the overall benefit of the below treatments is still under review by The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE). However they may be offered to some people in some clinical settings so it is important that you can learn more about them. These treatments are more widely available in some parts of the country such as in London than in others. They are also available privately.
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
HIFU uses high intensity ultrasound waves to kill prostate cancer cells. It is a type of focal therapy. It is not widely available on the NHS.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy kills cancer cells by freezing them. It is classed as a focal therapy. It is not widely available on the NHS.
