Tips and advice for any mental and emotional side effects of treatment
On one particular day I had a massive breakdown. I discovered a side to me that did not know existed. I was in floods of tears and hyperventilating. Due to being unable to speak to someone regarding the redness in the urine with the catheter fitted. Emotions though at the time with the catheter were up and down. Once this invention of the devil was removed things slowly started to improve. One has to be patient with oneself. It takes time for the body to heal which affects one's moods.
How this treatment impacted my life the most
Immediately after surgery I was frustrated because it was almost like being a small child I couldn't do anything by myself. Because it was all a new experience I did not know how to prepare the toilet for example I felt so helpless. I have my wife who helped me throughout my recovery. I couldn't go to the toilet without help. It was most uncomfortable to sit on the toilet, the catheter was a real pain! I had alot of bypassing the catheter so keeping clean was a major operation trying ensure no infection crept in. I was virtually house bound for a month. After the catheter was removed after 14 days things started to get better. But the constant leaking (dribbling) meant it was difficult. Exercise was out of the question but after about 6 weeks there was great improvement but still leaking. I started to get out more but was conscious of the pad getting damp.
If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?
