Hormone Therapy (injections)

How this treatment impacted my life the most

As well as ongoing hormone treatment (injections), I had a one off dose of radiotherapy. This was aimed at helping to reduce the pain resulting from the cancer damage to my lower backbone giving me a lot of pain before receiving the diagnosis. I also had six treatments of chemotherapy. My biggest problem before diagnosis was severe lower back pain but this was treated with pain killing patches with great success. For about six months after diagnosis I felt quite ill mainly from the chemotherapy, and very bloated from the steroids that accompanied the chemotherapy.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

Because once over the chemotherapy I started to feel much better with the pain I was in before diagnosis fading away. I was also happy to be receiving treatment after it taking several months to get a diagnosis after first being referred by my GP after a routine examination for prostate cancer. This was in part due to me receiving medication following a heart attack (stent fitted). The medication prevented me having a biopsy until that treatment was finished. During this period I became convinced I had prostate cancer but was unable to get the medical profession to confirm this.
