Hormone Therapy (injections)

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

The side effects are an inevitable result of hormone therapy and other prostate cancer treatments. It is necessary to accept this fact

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Accept them as an inevitable result of treatment that may save your life

How this treatment impacted my life the most

The hormone therapy began a month before I had twenty sessions of external beam radiotherapy in December 2020/January 2021 and has continued with three monthly injections ever since. My first PSA result three months after both treatments began was 0.5. Six months later it was 0.01- almost undetectable. The most recent (this month) was again 0.01. I had a telephone consultation today with my Specialist Nurse who indicated that I would probably ‘come off’ hormone therapy in six months if my next PSA Result is similar. I have been able to cope with the side effects to date and am happy to accept them as opposed to the possible alternative of the cancer becoming active once again. However I will listen to the advice of the professionals

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

I believe that the hormone therapy and external beam radiotherapy have together probably saved my life. As simple as that.
