Radical Prostatectomy (Surgery)

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

I found that I was just relieved to get the all clear and regain continence. What I wasn’t prepared for was a period of what could best be described as depression which developed roughly six months after the removal of my prostrate. Once I realised I was being effected like this I took steps to improve my state of mind. Another feature is that I still have the same sexual drive but am unable to do anything about it. But, what the hell - I’m alive.

Tips and advice for any mental and emotional side effects of treatment

Get or keep as physically fit as you can. Talk openly to chums who have the same condition. Don’t bore others but be prepared to advise if they ask.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

It saved it. So I’m eternally grateful. Any other side effects are trivia in relation.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

It’s a cure rather than having to live with it and constantly worrying whether drugs are being effective. I be got over the incontinence and am physically strong.
