Radical Prostatectomy (Surgery)

How this treatment impacted my life the most

The impact of Erectil Disfunction, has meant no sexual activity and feeling of not being a complete man. The low level incontinence was not a problem at first but after approx 8 month I found myself "leaking" a bit and I was embarassed and upset about that, so started wearing low level pads. After another couple of months this eased off and I only now suffer from stress incontinense so I now only wear a pad when I garden or excercise at gym.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

Consultant told me after all the investigations (MRI, biopsy, bone scan etc) that the cancer was leaving the prostate and it could mean that I would only have a possible 6 or 12 month of life. I told him that I wanted rid of the cancer and due to my age (73 at the time) the loss of sexual function was not that important to us (but I did not know the mental effect that would have on me). As my wife stated, she would rather have me alive than worry about a loss of sex life.
