Hormone Therapy (injections)

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

Don't worry my wife understands so it is not a problem. Consider it a relief from trying to be attractive to the opposite sex!

How this treatment impacted my life the most

I was diagnosed with type 4 prostate cancer after seeing my GP as I was worried my increased need to urinate would affect my London Marathon time for which I was training. I was surprised that my PSA was huge at 801 and I had considerable areas of bone cancer. I was prepared to undergo any treatment necessary. I shouldn't have worried. The chemo. was nowhere as bad as expected, in fact the chemo treatment room was almost like a little exclusive club. I lost my hair but it soon grew back. Pro Strap injections are nothing. The hot sweats as a side effect I treat as a sign that the treatment is active and working. I am included in the Stampede Trial taking Metformin. I had to have a few months off my voluntary job with the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust but returned to that and long distance running as my strength returned helped by some gym work During

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

I'm pretty well back to normal thanks to the terrific treatment by the NHS who are continuing monitoring my progress. Don't worry there may be dark days physically and mentally but cosset yourself, take it easy and you will ride it out
