Hormone Therapy (injections)

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Hot sweats usually after meals, have to use some sort of fan to cool down. Total loss of body hair except for my head. Disappearance of chest hair, pubic hair & leg and arm hair.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

When I was having the hormone injections to reduce my testosterone, the hot sweats I experienced were very difficult to manage. They often occurred very unexpectently and without warning in the 3 years of having the injections every 3 months. On a cold day, I was literally throwing clothes off me when the hot sweat happened.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

I went down the route of radiotherapy treatment rather than surgery as I was liable to having blood clots at the time. Radiotherapy treatment at hospital was excellent with no pain whatsoever. It is just that hormone injections are challenging experiences but necessary to stop the cancer and live a normal life when in remission.
