Hormone Therapy (injections)

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Acupuncture for hot sweats. Depending on where pain; if in joints then physiotherapy. Increased weight; sensible diet and exercise if not too tired.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

Hot sweats and joint pains early in the hormone treatment. Fortunate to have been recommended both Acupuncture and Physiotherapy. Continued with Acupuncture for 3-4 years until Covid. Radiotherapy, going for 37 daily treatments, Monday to Friday, took up a lot of time and energy but was fortunate that it took place July to September when weather was generally good and voluntary demands were less. Met some good new friends, and still meeting them.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

Not invasive or involving surgery, and was given really good guidance from Urologist, Interventional Radiologist and Oncologist after MDT meeting to take that course. Also, confirmed by a very helpful GP who has been extremely supportive and still is. Being a member of a support group, where a variety of experiences are shared, also helped me to realise that for me, hormone treatment and external beam radiotherapy was the best combination.
