Do you have any tips or advice that may help others support those who are going through treatment, including with any ongoing side effects?
Be patient. Try and be more tolerant. Understand it is the treatment not the person if they get ratty, upset, angry, short tempered with you. Just be there.
Please tell us how their treatment impacted your life the most.
Daily trips to hospital impacted on my life and work. Him not feeling up to socialising meant I had to decline invitations to spend time with friends and family. The fatigue he has just means I spend a lot more time doing things on my own. I have often felt helpless as there is nothing I can do to make him feel better. He has been like a menopausal woman with moods which has been hard to cope with at times. The hormone therapy has changed his personality a little bit. And brain fog!! That’s a whole other thing….
Thinking about your own wellbeing, what has helped you to cope, and where have you gone to find support? What tips and advice would you give to others?
Talking to friends and colleagues has helped me a lot. Don’t keep it all in. Talk about it.
