Radiotherapy

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

It wasn't and isn't a problem for me. All sexual drive disappeared, but accepting this didn't concern me. In the last 18 months I've put my energy into other things - charity and conservation work - and feel that that's been a more productive use of my time!

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Tiredness and loss of muscle strength was an effect of the 20 sessions of radiotherapy. It meant that I wasn't able to do the outdoor jobs that I was used to doing with the same stamina and I'd have to take more rests. Annoying but accept it! You're getting better and now, 18 months after radiotherapy, I'm much less tired and regaining strength.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

Overall tiredness and the fact that I had to sit down when I would have been up and doing things. During radiotherapy I went to bed earlier in the evening and I still do.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

The treatment wasn't invasive or painful. The Staff at the Hospital Oncology Dept were brilliant - informative, patient, kind and professional. A hard-working team - great people.
