How this treatment impacted my life the most
As my Gleeson score was lowish, my wife and I wanted to keep all options open until the 'lowish' PSA 6.9 showed signs of a sharp increase. We were interested in maintaining our sex life. So for 3 consultant appointments over 18 months (incidently, with 3 different consultants) the price was uncertainty in our lives. It was the third guy who crystallised our thinking by saying, and I paraphrase, "Why would you continue to live with cancer?" as by this time my score was around 7.5 He was a locom from out of county and spent 45 mins with us. The clincher was "If you were my brother, I'd advise you to have treatment"
If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?
Not sure
Why did I give this answer?
If we'd known then what we know now . . . Of course no one wants to live with cancer but the uncertainty of the remedies for erectile disfunction (injections/pump) meant we took the risk.
