Radical Prostatectomy (Surgery)

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

I do not regret having the surgery at all, as the cancer was conatined within the prostrate. What I did benefit from was: 1) Pelvic Floor Exercises per and post treatment 2) Thorough research of the treatment I had selected 3) Positive mental attitude pre and post surgery 4) The Hospital for their care

How this treatment impacted my life the most

The greatest impact on my life has been on the physical side of our relationship. It is fair to say that there was an emotion of not feeling complete as a man. The Physical side of a relationship is important, and I was keen to promote the recovry of my manhood as soon as possible. There was conecrn that our sex life would suffer and that my partner would become disatisfied and as a consequence our relationship fail. The treatment for EDF could not start soon enough, the results have been positive, the surgery maintained/improved the nerves and sensation of orgasm. It is important to have an understanding partner who shares in your recovery and is able to understand the male physchi and manhood.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

I underwent the robotic surgery on the 12th December 2018. Having the Prostate removed provided me with the reassurance that as the cancer was contained and not spread to any other organ or lymph glands, then a full cancer free recovery could be achieved . I continue to have my PSA checked and have been discharged from The Christie with all psa test being positive.
